anyone had problems shipping packages to italy using USPS?

i recently shipped a package to italy and it was supposed to arrive in 8 business days and its been 17 days already. when i check the tracking number it says its been stuck in italy in customs.
i declared it as clothing only and thats all there was in it… i didn’t know that there was a fee associated to the recieving end as well?! that makes it much harder and much more inconvenient fpr both the sender and the reciever! is this true for all packages or just some?

I have not specifically had this issue with Italy, but it sounds about right. Customs can be a real pain and really slow things down. Did anyone pay any necessary import fees? You might just want to check that out. I once had a package take 6 weeks to Iceland…

This is not a totally uncommon event although 17 days is on the high end and most packages are not delayed significantly. The same thing can happen with packages that are sent via delivery services rather than in the mail. I’ve had a few packages that took even longer than this to get through customs (I’m on the Italy end). Usually there was paperwork I had to fill out because the sender had not properly filled out the necessary information and sometimes there was duty to pay on the package before it could be released.

what did you declare to the post office? The receiver has to fill a couple of forms which normally are shipped by the customs directly to his/her address. Than he has to pay a lil fee and in a couple of weeks the box is delivered.
THE FEE DEPENDS ON THE VALUE YOU HAVE ASSIGNED TO THE PRODUCT YOU SHIPPED.
