		<description>The validity of your passport should &quot;preferably&quot; exceed your intended stay by at least three months.  I say &quot;preferably&quot;, because that&#039;s the requirement to apply for a Schengen Visa (granting you access to Italy and other European countries).

As an American tourist, you don&#039;t need a visa for such a short stay and they would probably let you in as long as your passport is valid for the duration of your entire stay.

Anyway, based on your dates, you&#039;re good to go.</description>

Once you have have left a country...that particular country couldnt care less if you have 6 months or not on your passport
